Continental Shoot Cancellation
It is with regret that we must cancel the Ducks Unlimited Dallas/Ft. Worth Continental Shoot. With less than a month
before the event, the number of shooters registered is less than 70. Normal Continental Shoot attendance is 250-325
shooters. We believe the lack of response is attributable to late season timing combined with unusually high
competition with several other large south-central sporting clays events.
DUer’s are shooters. And DU remains fully committed to the clay target sports and will continue to host great shooting
events across the nation. However, as a wetland conservation charity, we must at all times ensure that our
fundraising activities are at least minimally profitable. Considering the $80,000 prize package being offered at this
event, and the very low rate of shooter registration, it is virtually impossible for us to meet that minimal standard of
fundraising performance.
Many thanks to those of you who have registered for the event. Each of you has DU’s sincere thanks. In addition, you
have our personal guarantees, as well as the commitment of Ducks Unlimited, that DU will quickly refund every cent
of your prepaid registration fees. Each of you will also receive a personal phone call from one or both of us. That call
will give you an opportunity to ask questions and to complain if you like. It will also give us a chance to express to you
our thanks, and to make sure your questions are answered satisfactorily and your needs are met. We will also
explain some other steps we’re taking to show our gratitude for your support.
Though we’ve found it necessary to cancel this tournament, DU remains fully committed to the clay targets sports and
to shooters. We’re confident this first-of-its-kind cancellation is attributable to just a unique set of circumstances. And
we hope you will see fit to join us in the future at another DU tournament. You won’t regret being there.
